As I sit here, on March 12th, in my office on Thames Ditton High Street, watching the rain lash down, I could be forgiven for thinking that the cricket season may never arrive. April 13th. April 13th. April 13th. That’s the date that is very much forefront in my mind, that is of course the date of the first cricket on Giggs Hill Green in the 2019 season!
It is with great delight that I welcome you to the 2019 season. Both the senior and the junior sides have been training really hard over the winter, making sure all of their skills are honed and ready to go for what promises to be the busiest season of cricket for TDCC in the clubs history. We are officially the biggest we have ever been as a club, with 5 (F-I-V-E) senior Saturday sides, 2 senior Sunday sides and two senior midweek sides. On top of this we have the small matter of 250+ juniors representing the club, from ages 4-14 in a whole host of competitions, including the clubs first ever girls side. The way we are growing from strength to strength is truly remarkable, and I really hope you will all enjoy being part of it.
2018 saw the 1st team bring home a league title, along with both the Surrey Trust and Surrey Slam sides making the semi finals of very tough competitions. We aim to build on this success across all of our sides, and have added some more quality players to the squad over the winter. On top of that we shall continue to integrate young cricketers in to the senior sides, thus ensuring a strong bond within the club and I honestly believe that will lead to more and more success as the years go on.
Please feel free to stop me for a chat at any point over the season, I’m always happy to discuss the upcoming plans for the club or how we are looking to move forward in future seasons.
Here is to a wonderful 2019!
